Job Description
My client school are seeking a passionate and nurturing Reception Teacher to join their dedicated Early Years team on a fixed-term basis to cover a maternity leave for the 2025–2026 academic year. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in children’s early learning journey at a warm and inclusive primary school in Medway.
Plan and deliver a creative, engaging, and developmentally appropriate Early Years curriculum in line with the EYFS framework.
Provide a stimulating, safe, and supportive learning environment that promotes independence and curiosity.
Monitor, assess, and record children’s progress, using observations and data to inform next steps.
Work closely with teaching assistants, SENCO, and external agencies to meet the needs of all pupils.
Develop strong relationships with pupils, parents/carers, and colleagues to support each child’s well-being and development.
Maintain a well-organised and enriching learning space, both indoors and outdoors.
Contribute to whole school life and actively participate in staff meetings, planning sessions, and professional development.
Uphold the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
Essential:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Recent experience teaching in an Early Years or Reception class.
Excellent understanding of the EYFS curriculum and early child development.
A creative and reflective approach to teaching.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Commitment to inclusion, high standards, and continuous professional development.
Desirable:
Experience working in a Medway or Kent primary setting.
Knowledge of assessment tools used in EYFS (e.g., Tapestry or similar).
Experience supporting children with a range of learning needs, including EAL and SEND.
