Job Description

KS2 Teacher – ASD – 6 month fixed term contract

Are you a passionate, patient, and resilient teacher who thrives on making a difference?

Do you have a genuine interest in supporting neurodivergent learners to achieve their full potential, both academically and personally?

This is a forward-thinking, inclusive Independent Special School for boys with special educational needs including social, emotional and mental health difficulties, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) or Asperger’s Syndrome, speech, language and communication needs and moderate learning difficulties.

We are seeking a dedicated and creative KS2 Teacher to join our skilled multidisciplinary team and help shape the learning journey of our pupils.

Small class sizes with high staff-to-student ratios.  A curriculum that blends academic learning with life skills, emotional regulation, and communication development.  Access to specialist rooms including sensory spaces, therapy suites, and calm zones.

As a teacher in our ASD provision, you will:

Plan and deliver differentiated, engaging, and accessible lessons across the KS2 curriculum, tailored to the individual learning profiles of students.

Foster a positive, nurturing, and structured classroom environment where every child feels safe, understood, and celebrated.

Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and other professionals to provide a truly holistic educational experience.

Contribute to EHCP reviews, behaviour and communication plans, and termly progress reports.

Promote and embed communication-friendly strategies, sensory regulation, and emotional literacy into daily practice.

Build strong relationships with families, carers, and external professionals to support each child’s development and wellbeing.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A qualified teacher with QTS/QTLS
  • A reflective practitioner with the ability to adapt teaching methods to suit diverse learning styles.
  • Calm, consistent, and nurturing – with excellent behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
  • Committed to ongoing CPD and professional growth, with a passion for inclusive education.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary
  • Tailored CPD and training in specialist strategies and interventions
  • A highly supportive Senior Leadership Team and mentoring programme for new staff
  • A chance to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and families

This is an extremely nurturing role, ideal for a Primary teacher with experience working with children with ASD/MLD or someone with a caring nature, who has an interest in SEN.
