Job Description

Do you have experience or a genuine interest in supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)? We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to join our nurturing and inclusive school community.

You will work closely with a pupil with ASD, providing 1:1 tailored support to help them access the curriculum in a mainstream setting, develop key skills, and build confidence in a supportive learning environment. Your role will be integral in helping the pupil achieve their full potential both academically and socially.

  • Experience working with children with ASD (preferred but not essential)
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and parents
  • A genuine passion for supporting SEND pupils

Required for the role -

  • Relevant Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or willingness to train)
  • Ability to work alongside the classroom teacher and other support staff
  • Be able to liaise with parents, teachers, SALT and other outside agencies
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain)
  • Additional training in ASD/SEN (desirable)
  • Knowledge of the KS1 and KS2 curriculum and phonics (desirable)
