Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to work closely with students who require additional support. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting teachers in providing tailored support for students with SEND, ensuring they have the resources and guidance necessary to achieve their full potential.  The successful candidate must have a full driver’s license as there will be the need to drive a car or minibus for exciting offsite activities.

They are dedicated to supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and are looking for a compassionate, committed, and skilled Learning Support Assistant to join the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support for students with SEND in the classroom.
  • To transport learners to off site activities, using the school minibus.
  • Assist in the implementation of EHCPs alongside the class teacher and other professionals.
  • Help students with specific learning needs, supporting their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to monitor and assess student progress.
  • Support students with personal care or mobility needs, as required.
  • Encourage and maintain positive relationships with students, fostering their independence and confidence.
  • Provide feedback and support to parents/carers as directed by the class teacher and SENCo.

Person Specification:

  • Full, clean driver’s license.
  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally with SEND.
  • Strong understanding of different learning needs and strategies to support these needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to use initiative and be flexible in your approach to supporting students.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred but not essential).
  • A positive, proactive attitude and a passion for helping students succeed.
