About the School:

The school is a special primary school for learners with a diagnosis of autism.  Each class has a maximum of 9 pupils and staff to pupil ratio is very good.  Each classroom has its own outdoor space with wonderful exterior provisions, climbing walls, exercise equipment, art areas plus sports and balancing equipment.  There are also various outdoor shared playgrounds with phenomenal resources, as well as swing rooms, interactive sensory rooms, soft play rooms and dedicated holistic and sensory spaces inside.

About the Role:

We are looking for a caring, resilient and proactive individual to support students with a range of special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and learning delays. You will work closely with class teachers, the SENDCo and other professionals to ensure our pupils receive personalised, inclusive and nurturing support both in and out of the classroom.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 or small group support for pupils with SEND.
  • Work as a whole classroom assistant to support the teacher.
  • Adapt resources and learning activities to meet individual needs.
  • Foster positive relationships to promote confidence, independence and wellbeing.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility (where necessary).
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists and families.
  • Contribute to EHCP reviews, behaviour plans and learning targets.

We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND (school-based or otherwise).
  • A calm, empathetic and patient approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE/NVQ Level 2/3, or willingness to train).
