Job Description

We are looking to appoint a caring and dedicated teaching assistant to assist in a mixed KS1 class. You will be working with small groups, 1:1 and sometimes whole class at a village school in between Canterbury and Dover.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to motivate children to learn
  • Active listening skills to understand children’s needs
  • Patience and the ability to remain calm
  • Flexible and open to change for working on different activities
  • Enjoy working with other people
  • The ability to create the best learning and teaching environment

Responsibilities may include:

  • Help teachers prepare lesson materials and equipment, get the classroom ready for lessons and clear away afterwards
  • Work with groups and individuals to make sure they understand their work and stay focussed
  • Watch, record and report pupils’ progress to teachers
  • Follow school’s behaviour and safeguarding policy
  • Help teacher manage class behaviour
