We are working with an Independent School and College for learners with a diagnosis of autism, who are searching for an experienced Cover Supervisor.  The provision supports learners from primary age up to 25 years old.  There are a number of subjects and levels being attained by learners, from Functional Skills and GCSEs to vocational Post 16 subjects. 

Role Overview


This is an exceptional opportunity for an aspiring SEND teacher to gain further hands-on classroom experience or a HLTA looking to progress. Operating as a flexible “floating” cover teacher, you will provide critical support across all subjects.

The provision provides a holistic, child-centred environment where student safety and progress are paramount. Their dedicated multi-disciplinary team features Speech & Language Therapists (SaLT), Occupational Therapists (OT), and Emotional Wellbeing specialists working collaboratively to support the pupils.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Classroom Supervision: Lead and manage whole-class groups during teacher absences, ensuring students complete pre-arranged work and assigned homework.
  • Curriculum & Policy Alignment: Continuously develop your curriculum knowledge and consistently implement the school’s behaviour policies.
  • Admissions Liaison: Act as a welcoming, professional first point of contact for all prospective student admission enquiries.

 

Candidate Profile:

 

  • Prior experience working within a Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision.
  • Highly enthusiastic, self-motivated, and capable of building strong rapport with young people.
  • Adaptable team player who understands classroom dynamics, boundaries, and teaching structures.
  • Methodical, organised, and practical approach to daily tasks.
