Year 5 Teacher – Maternity Cover (1 Year contract)

Contract: Full‑time, 1‑year maternity cover
Kent Teaching Solutions are working with a welcoming and well‑established primary school in Medway who are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Year 5 Teacher to cover a maternity leave for one full academic year.
The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the Year 5 class, including planning, delivering high‑quality lessons, and assessing pupil progress in line with school and national expectations. You will be joining a supportive KS2 team with strong leadership, collaborative planning opportunities, and excellent resources to help you deliver engaging and effective learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver creative and differentiated Year 5 lessons
- Track, assess and report on pupil progress
- Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment
- Work collaboratively with the KS2 team and wider school staff
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including meetings and school events
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour, learning and achievement
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Strong experience teaching KS2, ideally Year 5
- Confident in planning and delivering the Year 5 curriculum
- Excellent classroom management skills
- A proactive, positive and flexible approach
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
