Parents warn kids are facing a special educational needs ‘crisis’ in Kent

Parents took to the streets to highlight a ‘crisis’ in special education needs.

Campaigners also delivered a petition with 13,000 signatures to Downing Street yesterday (May 30), begging the government for more funding to match the demand.

Their protest comes as new figures show the number of children with special needs eligible for extra support is at record levels in Kent.

The new statistics from the Department for Education show that 3,035 children and young people were put onto an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan to aid their learning last year – the highest number in a single year since statistics began.
