Job Description

Due to an increase in demand, we are recruiting Teaching Assistants to work at our schools in the Medway and Swale towns.

We currently have vacancies to suit all requirements. These include day-to-day supply, long term placements (until the end of Term 6) and permanent roles available. There are roles available in all year groups so please contact us for more information.

Skills and knowledge

You'll need:

• Sensitivity and understanding

• The ability to build good relationships with children

• Excellent verbal communication skills, including active listening skills to understand the children’s needs

• To be flexible and adaptable

• To enjoy working in a team

• The ability to teach pupils how to do something

• The ability to create a good environment for learning or teaching new things and create a safe environment following safeguarding procedures

Day-to-day tasks

In this role you could:

• Assist teachers arrange lesson materials and equipment

• Prepare the classroom for lessons and tidy up afterwards

• Work with small groups or on a 1:1 basis to ensure pupils understand their work and stay focussed

• Record and report pupils' progress to teachers

• Supervise group activities, including outings and sports events

• Help teachers manage behaviour

• Take care of children who are upset or unwell

• Take lead of teaching classes with guidance from the teacher
