Key Stage Secondary

Job Description

We are working with a secondary school situated in the Dartford area to appoint a Science Technician on a temporary or permanent basis. The role will require somebody with laboratory experience or a scientific background to manage their team of Science Technicians. The successful candidate will have previous experience working in a school as a Science Technician and expertise across all three Sciences.

The School:

The school vision is to provide every student with a safe, supportive learning environment, one where all stakeholders within the community are valued and enabled to make positive contributions. Our aim is to ensure that all students develop into responsible independent members of society.

In order to realise this vision, we use the four Ofsted strands to guide us:

Quality of education

Teaching and Learning is at the heart of everything we do, staff deliver innovative and challenging lessons ensuring that all pupils make progress regardless of their starting point. Students are taught and encouraged to become independent and resilient learners who take responsibility for their own learning and outcomes.

A comprehensive staff development programme recognises the good and outstanding practice within the school and disseminates this throughout the teaching body. A tangible team ethos sees staff work across the curriculum to ensure that lessons are engaging and inspiring for the students.

All students are set targets based on prior attainment and teacher assessment. All students will receive a target grade for the end of each Key Stage. Parents, students and staff will be able to use this grade to ensure that each student reaches their full potential. This process is used in every subject to ensure student progress across the entire curriculum.

The role:
• Involved in the preparation and maintenance of stock and apparatus for lessons and experiments.
• Provision of technical help and support to teachers as well as students across the school.
• Line management of other science technicians in the faculty.
• Stock control and replenishment of materials and equipment.

Why choose KTS:

  • PAYE – we pay PAYE meaning your tax is all worked out for you and we never use umbrella companies, meaning the money you earn is yours to keep – besides the usual deductions of tax, NI (and pension and student loan if applicable) – there are no additional deductions from your pay
  • Pension scheme – we offer a pension scheme with a total of an 8% contribution – your other pensions can be transferred into this pot too, keeping it all in one convenient place for you (different to the Teachers Pension)
  • Refer a friend – recommend your friends, family, colleagues to KTS, and you will receive a £50 referral fee. This can be teachers, TAs, support staff.
  • Guaranteed Work Scheme (GWS) – a type of contract where you are guaranteed payment, regardless of if we are able to find you work. We are so confident that we will be able to find you appropriate work, that if there are ever any days where we are unable to find you work, you will still be paid in line with your GWS
  • Proven track record of success – we have years of experience as well as well established relationships with schools meaning we are extremely busy and can provide you with supply teaching work on all your available days. Our Google reviews speak for themselves
  • In depth face to face registration – we take the time to meet you in person when you register with us so that we can get to know you and exactly what you are looking for, this way you haven’t got to send us any ID online, you can bring it all with you
  • Members of the REC – similar to Ofsted for schools, the REC audit us to make sure we are doing everything correctly and doing the best we can for our staff

You must hold UK QTS. ECTs welcome to apply.
