The Role:
You will take lead of a small, specialised class of KS2 pupils with complex needs, including physical disabilities and medical vulnerabilities. Supported by an experienced team of high-calibre Teaching Assistants, you will deliver a creative, sensory-focused curriculum that brings learning to life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, multi-sensory lessons tailored to individual EHCP targets.
- Customise learning using total-communication strategies to support non-verbal learners.
- Direct and lead a supportive team of classroom Teaching Assistants.
- Assess and monitor progress using small-steps tracking and the Engagement Model.
- Collaborate with on-site therapeutic teams, including Speech and Language Therapists.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
- Experience: Proven track record teaching pupils with PMLD, SLD, or complex medical needs.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of alternative communication (e.g., Makaton, PECS, AAC) and sensory integration.
- Mindset: A highly resilient, patient, and nurturing approach, with a great sense of humour.
- Compliance: Must hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
