Job Description

Do you have experience or a genuine interest in supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or SEMH? We are looking for 2 dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistants to join our nurturing and inclusive school community.

There are 2 roles available at this specialist SEN unit within a mainstream Primary.  The objective to support learners who need additional support, but to also integrate into the wider school community.

What we are looking for -

  • Experience working with children with ASD and/or SEMH (preferred but not essential) or mainstream Primary school experience
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and parents
  • A genuine passion for supporting SEND pupils

Required for the role -

  • Relevant Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or willingness to train)
  • Ability to work alongside the classroom teacher and other support staff
  • Be able to liaise with parents, teachers, SALT and other outside agencies
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain)
  • Additional training in ASD/SEN (desirable)
  • Knowledge of the KS1 and KS2 curriculum and phonics (desirable)

We are looking for candidates who can assist with students’ daily needs and who are ideally, experienced with Personal Care. Candidates must be trained in Moving & Handling Practical (not online).
