Children in Kent will return to the classroom this week.
Some schools are well aware they’ve been rated outstanding while others are left figuring out how to halt the spiralling decline into inadequacy.
Ofsted, the government department responsible for inspecting educational institutions, has four tiers of rating schools after an inspection.
These range from outstanding, good, requires improvement and inadequate.
Schools can be placed into special measures if they are deemed to be unable to improve without additional help.
On the other end of the spectrum, schools rated outstanding are exempt from inspection – but this is set to change according to education secretary Gavin Williamson.
