Salary: £26,000 – £27,300 per annum (FTE, dependent on experience and qualifications)
About the Role
We are seeking an adaptable and resilient SEND Cover Supervisor to join our independent specialist school in Rochester. In the absence of regular teaching staff, you will oversee whole classes, manage behaviour, and ensure students remain focused on pre-set work. Operating in an environment dedicated to inclusive education, you will adapt materials to meet the needs of Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Key Responsibilities
- Lesson Delivery: Supervise KS3 and KS4 classes, ensuring students complete pre-prepared activities in the teacher’s absence.
- SEND Support: Adapt lesson content and communication styles to suit students with Autism and associated learning challenges.
- Behaviour Management: Implement the school’s positive behaviour policies, de-escalate challenging situations, and foster a calm, safe learning environment.
- Student Engagement: Build strong rapport with young people, motivating them and supporting their emotional literacy and personal development.
Person Specification
- Experience: Proven experience in a secondary school, SEND provision, or similar specialist setting.
- SEND Knowledge: A strong understanding of ASD and the ability to apply specialised support strategies.
- Resilience: A calm, adaptable, and patient approach under pressure.
- Compliance: An Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one) is strictly required.
