Lead Teacher – Core Subjects (Part-Time 0.6)
Are you a teacher who sees the child before the challenge?
Do believe that building a relationship is just as important as delivering a lesson?
At Kent Teaching Solutions, we are proud to be recruiting for a truly special Independent Boysâ School that breaks the mould of traditional education. This isnât just a school; itâs a therapeutic community designed for boys with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who have, through no fault of their own, found themselves in this position.
We are looking for a Part-Time Core Subjects Teacher who can bring English, Maths, and Science to life through a nurturing, holistic lens.
The School Ethos
This school prioritises the “whole child.” Their approach is trauma-informed, meaning they look past the behaviour to understand the childâs needs. With small class sizes (typically 4â6 pupils) and a high ratio of therapeutic staff, you will have the time, space, and support to actually teach rather than just manage a classroom.
The Role
As a Core Subjects Teacher, your mission is to re-engage learners who may have had negative experiences with education. You will:
- Deliver Bespoke Lessons:Â Create highly engaging, adapted sessions in Core Subjects that cater to individual EHCP targets.
- Prioritise Wellbeing:Â Work within a “nurture” framework where emotional regulation and self-esteem are given as much weight as academic progress.
- Collaborate for Success:Â Liaise daily with a multidisciplinary team of therapists, SENCOs, and dedicated TAs to provide a 360-degree support system for every boy.
- Foster Growth:Â Be a consistent, calm, and positive role model for students who need stability and empathy.
What Weâre Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLSÂ is preferred, though we welcome highly experienced instructors with a proven track record in SEN.
- A Holistic Mindset:Â You understand that a child cannot learn if they donât feel safe. You are patient, adaptable, and emotionally resilient.
- Subject Versatility:Â The ability to deliver English, Maths, and Science at a functional or GCSE level (tailored to the student’s ability).
- SEMH Experience:Â Previous experience in an SEMH, PRU, or Alternative Provision setting is a huge advantage, but we also welcome mainstream teachers with a genuine heart for SEN.
